This is a collaborative project between the Center for Popular Music and the American Antiquarian Society to inventory, catalog, digitize, and provide web-based public access to their extensive music manuscripts collections. It concerns manuscripts inscribed before 1910 that are mainly American in provenance, with contents that are preponderantly vernacular in style. This collection has been made possible in part by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities: Exploring the H...

This song book, dated December 29th, 1866, contains handwritten music and lyrics. The Civil War songs, which are mostly about death and loss, include titles such as "When Johnny Comes Marching Home", "O Wrap the Flag Around Me, Boys", "The Vacant Chair", and "The Dying Soldier". 1 vol. octavo From the American Antiquarian Society.

Diary records the movements of Blake's unit from Boston to New York where a number of skirmishes in the period from April 1 to April 28 are recorded. Blake then recounts his unit's march to Quebec with General John Sullivan as reinforcements for the ill-fated American invasion of Canada.
